The player is given various missions to accomplish by kingpins and major idols in the city underworld which have to be done in order to progress.

-Assassinations and other crimes appear regularly, but occasionally driving a taxi, firefighting, street racing, bus driving, or learning to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft are also present
-In the later ones, most notably Grand Theft Auto 2, the player is given a more expanded storyline in which he is forced to overcome an unfortunate event(i.e. being betrayed and left for dead) which serves as motivation for the character to advance.
-Grand Theft Auto III and later games have more prevalent voice acting, and radio stations, which simulate driving to music with DJs, radio personalities, commercials, talk radio, pop music and American culture.
-The use of vehicles in an explorable urban location provides a basic idea of a working city, complete with pedestrians who obey traffic. Further details are used to create an open ended atmosphere that has been used before, such as in The Simpsons Hit & Run, which is more family friendly.

True Crime: Streets of LA

True Crime: Streets of LA
-Action adventure video game. Allows you to do role playing.
-Created by Luxoflux Games.

Overview
-In this open world game, this game focuses on the other side of the law.
-You play as Det. Nick Kang, a Chinese-American member of the LAPD who has problems with keeping out of trouble with the LAPD

Did You Know?
-Throughout the city of LA there are billboards advertising the release of a True Crime movie coming out in the fall of 2005. That's when the True Crime: New York City game came out

-In the final fight between Kang and Han Yu Kim is a tribute to Jet Li's Cradle 2 the Grave. Both fights had the good guy and bad guy fighting amidst a circle of fire from airplane wreckage.

Plot
-The player assumes the role of Nick Kang, a Chinese American detective and living nightmare of every officer on the LAPD because of his unorthodox police procedures and destructive talents of catching criminals. The game starts out showing Kang returning to LA after an extended leave. He goes to the shooting range to practice his 2 fist shooting techniques. That's when the Chief of the E.O.D (Elite Operations Division), Wanda Parks, walks in. She asks Nick to come back and help them in the solving of a rash of bombings of local Chinatown businesses. At first, they seem unrelated, but further investigation reveals that it is the work of the Chinese Triad groups. At first Nick is uninterested. Parks asks him to reconsider. He agrees on only one condition: he do it his way.

-Kang is partnered with Rosie Velasquez. When Nick teasingly remarks how she's a "good girl", she responds that, before saying goodbye, "she ran with more than a few Latino gangs before becoming a detective." Rosie is hesitant to do this because of rumors she heard about him. The case becomes personal for Nick. That's when the player learns that Henry Wilson was an excellent police officer who was involved in a drug operation in the 1970s. One day he disappeared without a trace. Soon, Internal Affairs found a stash of cocaine in his locker and it brought his work into question. Nick refuses to believe this.

-Rosie learns of Nick's history, when his mother died, and father disappeared, that him and his younger brother Cary went to Hong Kong to stay with family. Nick became hungry for revenge while solving another case. His work got more reckless as time went on and he used the surname "Kang" when his dad Wilson died. As Nick investigates, he faces Triad guys, Rocky(member of the Russian Mafia), and a general named Han Yu Kim(Korean People's Army)
Characters

Nicholas "Nick" Kang-Wilson: Although he was recently suspended indefinitely from the police force due to repeated incidents of excessive brutality, property damage, and refusing to follow orders, Nicholas Kang (Wilson) was recruited into the E.O.D. as the group's first field agent. The same over-the-line methods that got him thrown off the force enable him to succeed at the E.O.D.. Nick Kang's skills in martial arts are only matched by his ability to expertly wield firearms and drive like a professional stuntman. Voiced by Russell Wong
Rosie Velasco: An ex-gangbanger turned straight, Rosie Velasco is determined to prove herself worthy of her badge; unfortunately, she's just been partnered with Nick Kang, and isn't too happy about hitting the streets with a loose cannon. Nick isn't too happy about it either, but when their first meeting together concludes with her being wounded in a shootout, she winds up behind a desk working intel for the rest of the case. Voiced by Michelle Rodriguez

Chief Wanda Parks: Wanda Parks is the Chief Detective of the LAPD, as well as head of the Elite Operations Division, with jurisdiction over the entire City of Angels. She has two decades of law enforcement experience and is one of the most well respected officers in the LAPD. Parks puts up with Nick's brash and over-the-top nature because she knows when all hell breaks loose, Nick is the only man who consistently delivers.

George: An old friend of Henry's, and a father figure and mentor to Nick. He reveals the backstory of the Wilson family to Rosie, and serves as a narrator at the beginning and end of Nick's quest. Voice of Christopher Walken.

FBI Agent Masterson: He is called on the scene to oversee the case that the EOD is working on throughout the game. He doesn't like working with the EOD, especially because of Nick. voiced by Gary Oldman

Han Yu Kim: A General from North Korea, seeking to strengthen his country's position in the world scene through illegal means. To this end, he is working with Rocky and his Mafia connections, as well as the Chinese Triads. He is seen in all three endings, and fought as the last boss in two; his ultimate goals are only revealed in the true ending, however. The character's image is based on Kim Jong Il.

Cary (Kang) Wilson: Nick's little brother, owner of a vast chain of 24-hour dojos throughout the city, where Nick can improve his fighting ability. Nick is very protective of his younger brother who, for his father's sake, he has vowed to defend with his life.

Endings
Bad Ending: Nick faces off with Han Yu Kim at the top of a high-rise bank, after shooting his way through the General's mercenaries. If Nick loses the final fight, he is thrown off the building and only wakes up in time to realize his fate, as the General escapes. If Nick wins, it is the General who falls off from the building before Nick receives any information from him.

Good Ending: After battling through Ancient Wu's trials, the truth is revealed: Rocky was formerly a plant by the KGB, who quickly turned criminal when given the opportunity, along with Rafferty, Henry's former partner. Kang tracks the two to the Santa Monica airport, but is surprised by Jill and knocked unconscious. Coming to, Rocky reveals the rest of the story: when Henry refused to be turned by Rocky or Rafferty, Rocky shot him in the head and dumped his body in the ocean. Rocky prepares to kill Nick, but Rafferty takes the bullet. Rocky dies after Nick blows up his jet. The General arrives and explains that the Russians stole their money and must deal with loose ends. If Nick loses, the General escapes and Nick either passes out or dies from his injuries just as the police arrive. If Nick wins the fight, the General is killed just as the police arrive.

Average Ending: Cary is dead, Rosie is kidnapped by Rocky, who forces Nick to drive an armored car full of counterfeit money to the Chinatown Plaza, in exchange for her life. After being ambushed and killing the General's men, Rocky and Nick have a final fight. If Nick loses, he dies and Rocky escapes. If Nick wins, Rocky surprises him and is about to stab him to death, when he is shot down by Rosie. Earlier, he had taunted Nick about knowing the truth about his father; however, the secret died with him.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards: Arrested!

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
-On February 12, 1967 around 5:30pm, 20 police officers from the London police swarmed the Redlands home that Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards owned in Sussex. Both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were arrested, along with Brian Jones(who was supposedly there, but him and then girlfriend Anita Pallenberg were fighting so they stayed in London).

-Others had come along for the weekend, including Beatle George Harrison and wife Patti Boyd. They had left before the raid, leading most people to believe they were staking the place out and waited for George to leave so they would not have to arrest a member of the beloved Beatles.

-According to police reports, the police took some drugs and left around 8:00pm. On March 20, Keith Richards and Mick Jagger were due to appear in court and they received summonses saying they committed offences against the Dangerous Drugs Act. After their court date, they were sentenced to prison. Mick was sent to Lewes prison outside of London where as Keith Richards was sent to Wormwood Scrubs.

-On Sunday, February 5, 1967, News of the World, a British tabloid paper, published a story claiming Mick Jagger along with others, were taking LSD. Later that same evening, Mick Jagger appears on the Eamon Andrews Show and said he never took LSD and that his lawyers would sue for libel. But this story was actually started by Brian Jones being mistaken for Mick Jagger, so he could get payback on his once ally but now enemy.

-The week following the story by News of the World, it saw The Rolling Stones in Abbey Road Studios recording with The Beatles before they left London for Redlands. This weekend was supposed to be a quiet, relaxing getaway. But it soon changed when London police swarmed the property that Sunday night

-With the police having a warrant, The Stones suspected they were tipped off. The report from News of the World and police played up the image of Miss X(Marianne Faithfull) wearing nothing at all except for a fur rug which she intentionally let fall from time to time during the raid. And some reports say that it was Mick Jagger who was completely naked and wearing the rug. A groupie named Nicky Kramer was mistaken for a woman and searched by a female officer.

“He had long fairish hair,” reported the female officer who searched him, “and was dressed in what would be best described as a pair of red-and-green silk ‘pajamas’. I searched him and this was all he was wearing. I formed the opinion he, too (along with Mick Jagger) was wearing makeup.”

On May 10, 1967, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and their friend Robert Fraser appeared in a Chichester court and were released on a bail of $100 in British money. On June 27, Mick Jagger's trial began in Chichester, with Keith Richards trial starting the next day. After a day's hearing, the verdict was given on June 29: both were found guilty. Mick Jagger was sentenced to 3 months in prison for possession of 4 amphetamine pills and Keith was given a year in prison

-After hearing this, there was a wave of protests, from Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and Keith Moon of The Who

But Manny manages to make a deal with a wealthy drug dealer named Frank Lopez(Robert Loggia) to obtain green cards in return for killing a former Cuban government employee who murdered Lopez's brother long ago. Following the murder and their release, they agree to take a job for Frank's henchman Omar Suarez(F. Murray Abraham) to buy cocaine from Columbian dealers. The deal goes bad, with the Columbians dismembering Angel in the bathroom of a motel with a chainsaw. Before they can do the same to Tony, Manny and Chi-Chi storm the apartment and kill the Columbians. Suspicious of a set up, their trust for Omar goes down. Tony and Manny take the money and cocaine to Frank personally. Frank likes their style and hires Tony and Manny to work for him. This is how Tony meets and develops a crush on Frank's girlfriend, Elvira Hancock(Michelle Pfeiffer)
-Months later, Tony visits his mother, Georgina(Miriam Colon) and his younger sister, Gina(Mary Elizabeth Mastrontonio), of whom he's fiercely protective. Gina is excited to see him again, but his mother suspects him of a life of crime and throws him out. Manny is waiting in a car outside, and he comments to Tony about Gina being beautiful and Tony angrily warns him to stay away from her.
-Frank sends Tony and Omar to Bolivia to make a deal with a cocaine kingpin named Alejandro Sosa(Paul Shenar). The tension between Tony and Omar comes to a head when Tony begins to make unauthorized deals on behalf of Frank. Omar agrees to head back to talk to Frank personally, while Tony stays with Sosa. Afterward, Sosa tells Tony that Omar is a police informant and has Tony witness Omar being pushed and hanged from a helicopter. Tony states that ne neve liked or trusted Omar, but vouches for Frank. Sosa and Tony part ways with a mutual understanding. But Sosa gives him a warning: Tony is to never betray him. After returning to Miami, Frank is angry with Omar's demise and Tony's deal, which cause the end of their business relationship. Tony starts some of his own operations and he starts to pursue Elvira more, eventually asking her to marry him
-One night, at a local nightclub, Tony is met by Miami detective Mel Bernstein(Harris Yulin), who is corrupt, and asks Tony to "tax" on his transactions in return for police protection. Tony sees Elvira and sits with her to talk about his proposal, but Frank arrives and demands that Tony leave. Tony insults Frank instead, causing Frank to leave with Elvira. Tony sees his younger sister Gina at the Babylon Club with a strange man, who just so happens to be a drug dealer. He sees them disappear and he follows them to the men's room where Tony finds the man giving Gina cocaine. He throws the man out of the bathroom and slaps Gina after she confronts him. Manny, being the sympathetic one, comforts Gina and takes her home. Gina reveals her crush to Manny, but he says he would basically get into trouble if he started dating her, fearing what tony would do if he caught them together. Back at the club, Tony is attacked and wounded by 2 gunmen, but he escapes, killing them. Suspicious of Frank sending Bernstein and the hitmen, Tony and Manny confront Frank at his office, finding him with Bernstein. With the help of of one of his associates, Tony exposes Frank as the person behind the failed hit. Frank begs for his life before Manny puts 2 rounds in him. Tony then shoots Bernstein. Having power now, Tony takes over what Frank had, and marries Elvira. Sosa then becomes Tony's supplier.
-Over time, problems begin to develop. Tony and Elvira become addicted to cocaine, and drift apart, Tony becomes increasingly paranoid that people are watching him and this is driving him and friend Manny apart. Tony is eventually charged with money laundering and tax evasion after police stage a sting operation. Tony is arrested and makes bail, but his lawyer explains that there will be a huge fine and up to 3 years in prison. Sosa flies tony to Columbia to get him a way out. In exchange for the use of Sosa's government connections to keep him out of jail, Tony must fly to New York with Sosa's henchman Alberto(Mark Margolis) to help kill a Bolivian journalist intending on exposing Sosa during a speech to the United Nations. During dinner at a fancy restaurant, a depressed and drunk Tony and stoned Elvira fight. While Tony is in New York, an unhappy Manny is asked to stay behind and run things. Tony accuses Elvira of being a junkie, whom he could never have kids with, which ends in a fight, with her announcing she is leaving him

-Tony arrives in New York with Chi-Chi, Ernie and Alberto. They sit outside the hotel where the journalist is staying and Alberto wires the man's car with a bomb. The next morning, upon seeing the journalist in his car with his family, Tony tries to call it off, at the sake of the wife and kids. Alberto states that Sosa's explicit rules are to tail the journalist and blow up his car in front of the United Nations building. Before Alberto hits the button to detonate the bomb, Tony shoots him in the head. Furious, Sosa calls Tony later that night and he reminds Tony of their first conversation, where he warned Tony to never betray him.

-Then Tony sets out to find Gina. Tony's mother tells him that Gina is now at an address in Coconut Grove. Tony finds there is a mansion at this address and when he rings the doorbell, Manny answers it. He finds Gina coming out of an upstairs bedroom and he immediately kills Manny in a fit of rage; unfortunately Gina has planned to tell Tony and surprise him with the announcement of their marriage. Tony and his men bring a nerve racked Gina back to his mansion. As Tony snorts a pile of coke, Sosa's men are busy surrounding the compound. They are heavily armed, and are quietly killing all guards on the premises. At this point, a heavily drugged Gina enters Tony's office with nothing but a robe on, and accuses Tony of wanting her for himself, before shooting him in the leg. One of Sosa's men busts in and opens fire on Gina. Tony kills the man and upon seeing Gina's corpse, falls in to heavy grief. Chi-Chi is then killed when Tony fails to open the door despite his pleas.

-Finally in a fit of cocaine controlled rage. he makes his last stand, using an M16 armed with an uner barrel M203 grenade launcher, and extended magazines, opens fire, saying the famous line "Say hello to my little friend!". Tony takes hit after hit, the only thing keeping him alive is the cocaine. But he takes one shot to the heart from a shotgun blast from the back by one of Sosa's hitmen, known simply as The Skull. tony falls into the fountain below in a splash of blood and water, near a statue that says "The World is Yours."
