For some reason, it seems like Top Gear UK and Top Gear US are trying to compete with each other. Well, as far as my pointless opinion goes, there is no competition here. Top Gear UK definitely comes out on top as reigning champ in my opinion. I think on the American version, the 3 on there are trying to reenact the comedic talents of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond from the British version.
Top Gear US
-The presenters of the show are professional racecar driver Tanner Foust, actor/comedian Adam Ferrara, and auto analyst Rutledge Wood. As with the original British version, the show has it's own version of The Stig, an anonymous driver, and each week, a celeb guest is featured.
-Debuted on History Channel on Nov. 21, 2010
-Follows the same format as the British version. 3 presenters, they put vehicles through different tests and celebs are invited to test vehicles around a track.
-This is the American version of what the BBC version would call Star in a Reasonably Priced Car

Top Gear UK
-Began in 1977
-Currently hosted by James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson
-Has a mysterious driver known as The Stig, who's been played by at least 3 different people.
-Regularly features long-distance races, which usually ends up pitting all 3 hosts against each other
-These can go in any direction, such as a nun driving a monster truck, building custom cars, being roadies for The Who, participating in the Britcar 24-hour endurance race, trying to build an electric vehicle that's cheap, trying to find the perfect car for a 17 year old, etc.
Star in a Reasonably Priced Car
-They have had at least 3 different cars for this portion. This is where a celeb of some sort would take part in driving a car around a test track and seeing how fast they drove. And usually most of the celebs will end up being British musicians, actors/actresses, racecar drivers, etc.
-For the first seven seasons, it was a Suzuki Liana.
-Joanna Lumley- 1:51.5
-Trinny Woodall as passenger to Susannah Constantine- 1:55.7
-Format was changed so each celeb would have 5 laps and a final timed lap
-Ronnie Wood- 1:49.6
-Billie Piper- 1:48.3
-Gordon Ramsay- 1:46.3
-David Tennant- 1:48.8
-On June 27, during the 15th season, Clarkson said something about getting a new car. And they did. A Kia Cee'd.
